A joyous song from 'The Student Prince.' Mario Lanza is the singer although he is not in the film. Edmund Purdom is the actor miming to the words - very successfully. A happy, uplifting scene.
The second link is a very interesting blog from one of the extras in the film.

Re: The Student Prince - Mario Lanza's voice.
Glad to know there's another Mario Lanza fan out there Tony...
Always loved Mario Lanza's voice (mother brainwashed me when I was a child) I probably have every LP that was released; mostly inherited from her, and in my opinion the best tenor ever! Would love to have seen him play the lead in the 'Student Prince' (if he hadn't had an artistic difference with the producers), but Edmund Purdom did a wonderful lip sync job.
My favourite from that film has to be 'I'll Walk With God' (mothers influence once again).

Mario Lanza made some lovely films in his short troubled life; he was only 38 when he died, and you have to wonder what direction his music would have taken.
For those who don't know or can't remember what he looks like, this is him in the film 'Because You're Mine' as a soldier singing the Lords Prayer; (pretty easy on the eye to)!

And you have to remember that he did 'Nessun Dorma' long before Pavarotti.

On the 7th October he will have been dead 57 years but his voice has been frozen in time forever!
Tony you've inspired me to put on a Mario Lanza film. Will have to start with one of my favourites 'Toast of New Orleans'

It is a comforting thought to consider that maybe our mothers are truly Walking With God.....

A very comforting thought Bev… She always loved Mario Lanza and especially that song; it was one of the songs played at her funeral along with another one of her favourites from the film ‘Carousel’ called ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ which I sang for her (still don’t know how I got through that day). Miss her so much, but you know what that’s like!

Ah Karren, two of your words (mother and Mario) struck a cord or two, so to speak, with me. Maybe heightened because this month marks the second year of mum's passing, so pass those tissues over here! As you know, it doesn't get easier it just changes.
That song is universal! I can play it on the violin but you wouldn't want to hear me sing it! I'll leave that to Mario and you. So please keep tickling those tonsils because singing is surely sustenance for the soul!
