rememberin a Great Man

Post by marin »

Remembering a Great Man while listening to him in a silent afternoon
I smile when I'm angry
I cheat and I lie
I do what I have to do
To get by
But I know what is wrong
And I know what is right
And I'd die for the truth
In my secret life
In my secret life
Hold on, hold on, my brother
My sister, hold on tight
I finally got my orders
I'll be marching through the morning
Marching through the night
Moving cross the borders
Of my secret life
THIS PROPHET OF SOUL HAS SHOWN US THE KEYS TO MOVE FAR AWAY ... IN OUR INNER LIFE

THANKS A LOT TO THIS MAGNIFICENT MAN ... ALWAYS WITH US ... FOREVER

Well done, for standing up to Geoffrey's intemperance. He means no harm by his terrible rudeness.

a recorded voice emanates from a mechanical device ('stuff'), and has no connection with any living organism.

i have never been intemperate in my life, but wish only to educate those with a deficiency of basic knowledge. it is you, acting like a tick on a thoroughbred racehorse, who is rude.

Nonsense! Mechanical devices are obvious. Not to be discussed.

I suppose you are familiar with mechanical devices but not with the literary ones.

With no apostrophe the word is free to spread its sound … nnnnnnnnnnnnn …
The apostrophe is like a halt reminding, in a flash, that something is missing ( in this case that horrible g ).
It’s a matter of style!

i am an old man, marin, am quite well read, speak several languages, have studied religion, philosophy, psychology and the arts - but at no time did i ever come across such a contrary and stubborn person such as yourself. one lesson you desperately need to learn is when to yield to a superior mind. that you are interested in the work of a literary figure of mr cohen's calibre is to your credit, though i fear the attraction is the pop songs he recorded in order to put food on the table, not his impressive catalogue of literary works. my suggestion to you, my young dear, is to obtain a library card and gain fulfillment by introducing your sparse knowledge to the treasures available to anyone capable of reading. it will be difficult and boring at first, because you are probably used to reading only comics, but as your awareness expands and your vocabulary widens, you will become only too glad to abandon the vacuum in which you have been living. i guarantee you will eagerly look forward to opening each waiting volume - and then, perhaps, even write authoritatively about 'matters of style'. good luck :-)
