What a great article Wybe - thank you. What I don't understand is when it says that the homes are 'whitewashed' every day. I never saw anyone doing this, let alone every day.

I also never saw this Mary, maybe they do it very early in the morning :)

Perhaps they are whitewashed by the sun! Wonderful article... makes me feel very nostalgic.

Whitewashing is done not more often than once a year, usually immediately after the rains have stopped in the spring. But probably someone is whitewashing somewhere on any particular day, especially picking out the steps.
