Re: Lover, Lover, Lover & Rumi

I noticed on this thread that someone is interested in hearing Coleman Barks read Rumi. I came across this movie a couple of years ago --and was totally entranced. Having a sufi brother (also a Leonard Cohen fan) I had to get a copy for him, and later got one for myself as well. Well worth the time ...

Re: Leonard for Canada

Of course! Leonard is always wanted in Canada--that goes without saying? I know he is now a world citizen, but my heart is filled with some kind of silly pride that he is Canadian. I was hoping that I might meet him (or at least see him perform) on some travels this year, as I did in Portugal just t...

If you haven't heard Susie yet, you are in for a real treat. On this site, Less and Less on the album Learn to Smile Again is one my favourites.

Also No regrets

Re: Leonard Cohen for Governor General (Macleans.ca 4/11/10)

Well, he was young then but....here is a reason both against and for... Speaking of the Governor General's awards: "In 1969 poet and songwriter Leonard Cohen declined the award for his winning collection, Selected Poems 1956-1968 (1968). According to the Globe and Mail (28 May 1969, p. 6), Cohe...

Thanks for this --a kindred spirit indeed...we would likely all agree. And now his spirit seems to have touched so many more. I love to hear the accolades pouring in.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0l3l5rNTOaM She seemed to have a great appreciation for our man. She calls him a mentor and a poet first. Geoffrey the vibrato in Buffy's voice comes from the culture of which she is a part. Like all other cultures, the music may not be what you are used to. I have som...

Re: Great article

I couldn't have said it better--no really--I couldn't have said it better. Thanks for sharing this wonderful insightful, thoughtful analysis of just what it is that Leonard brings. Funny how we never get tired of trying to express or hearing expressed, this love we have for Leonard Cohen.

Re: 2012 Leonard Cohen Event

Lizzy Thanks for posting that link about Joe--brings back a lot of memories. I was introduced to Leonard, as I have written about elsewhere in 1969-70 Songs from a room, was a Janis fan too. I also fell under Trudeau's spell during that time period. And not too far away, Joe and the others, were goi...

Re: 2012 Leonard Cohen Event

Thanks for your kind offer Joe and Anne
I have not yet attended an event and this might be one that will be within my reach. I have been to Madison Georgia, a lovely historic spot, but have never been to Chicago or Madison Wisconsin. I will be watching the forthcoming plans with great interest.

K'Naan

I first really heard K'Naan when he sang for the Olympics. I couldn't forget him and have been listening to some of his music lately. He is on tour in the US this year.
