Re: Now: Interview with Hattie Webb

Thanks to you all for your kind comments (I learned quite a lot from this Q & A, myself). I hope everyone here will make this work for Hattie, who at the time of writing is almost half way there! The least you can do is pre-order the album from http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/hattie-webb-to-...

Re: Hattie in concert

Hattie's first major gig with her band was a resounding success, and The Pheasantry in the Kings Road, Chelsea, was a well-chosen venue for the event. The building is set back slightly from the street, and you enter through an open iron gate framed by statues and pillars under a small archway. I bel...

Re: R.I.P. - P.F.Sloan

I've only just found that Jennifer Warnes covered Jimmy Webb's great song about P.F. Sloan:

R.I.P. - P.F.Sloan

R.I.P. - P.F. Sloan, who has died of pancreatic cancer. It seems sadly appropriate that Phil's soul should depart at this moment of time...perhaps to put the focus on this, his most famous song, which is a warning to the world that is now more relevant than ever (copy and paste to view link): https:...

Re: Leonard Cohen art in Manchester Uk

Davido - Thanks so much for posting the link! Although, as you probably remember, I was much involved in that day (and though I'm friends with Gina), I can't remember ever seeing the whole of the interview. I hope to see Julie Felix tomorrow, so I must give her the link. It's interesting to know tha...

Re: LC b'day greetings 2015

Happy Solar Return, Leonard! Today (20th September) is your true astrological birthday, when the Sun returns to the exact degree that it was occupying, at birth. That means you've got two days to celebrate :)

Eric Andersen at Green Note, Camden, 2nd September

At the Green Note Cafe gig we got an exclusive preview of Eric Andersen's new work on Lord Byron that he was due to present at Byron's ancestral home in Nottingham on 3rd September. This included Eric's own adaption of "We'll Go No More a Roving" which has a different, more up tempo, tune ...

Re: Sharon's fall tour in Europe

The Jazz Cafe is easy for me to get to, well-suited to Sharon's music, and I quite like it as a venue. However I would prefer a seated venue so I'll wait to see if another gig is slotted-in before I buy a ticket. If people don't mind sitting in the balcony, where I believe food is still served, then...

The Trembling Bells "The Sovereign Self"

It seems that the possibilities of the Trembling Bells are limitless. Since 2008, they have made two fine folk-rock albums, a heavier third album, an album with Bonnie Prince Billy, and various E.Ps. Founder members, Alex Neilson and Lavinia Blackwall form half of “Crying Lion”, an a cappella tradit...

Re: Train songs

Thanks for the Al Stewart links (I hadn''t heard the second song). Michael Chapman and Al Stewart are friends and played a show in London together around 2000. Michael Chapman has recorded an instrumental called "Trains". He says it started life as two trains, then it became three trains e...
