R.I.P. Colin Vearncombe (Black)

Tragically, the great Colin Vearncombe (the singer known as Black) has died following a terrible car accident: Here are three of my favourite songs by him: 1. Wonderful Life: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMXz3TQOS_c 2. Now You're Gone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCVh5dmcLP8 3. When It's Over...

Re: Do you believe David Bowie will ever tour again?:)

Glad to hear that you enjoyed my piece, and that you managed to see Bowie before he stopped touring! I was sorry to hear that Glen Frey had died. I saw the Eagles three times, at different stages in their career, and they always played an excellent live set.

Re: Do you believe David Bowie will ever tour again?:)

I stop short of calling David Bowie a genius, as his influences were numerous, including Anthony Newley, Eddie Cochran, Dylan, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, Jacques Brel, Scott Walker, Lindsay Kemp, and many others (Bowie himself in a TV documentary admitted he borrowed a lot from others, but had chosen well)...

Re: Long Lost Interview 1970s

Hi Philip, I've appended my concert signature to the post above. I'm glad you got to see Leonard a few times and shake his hand. I've only met Leonard twice - Once briefly on my 25th birthday, after his second show at London's New Victoria Theatre, and once properly at his art exhibition in Manchest...

Re: Long Lost Interview 1970s

THANK YOU, Philip! This is absolutely wonderful. This "interview" perfectly captured my experience of what it was like to be a Leonard devotee in the early-mid Seventies. Actually, it's not so much an interview as a cleverly created vehicle for Leonard to read his latest poems. Although I ...

Re: Now: Interview with Hattie Webb

Great to hear this interview! It was recorded a few days before my 20 questions went online, and fortunately there is not too much overlap. I particularly enjoyed hearing Hattie's detailed account of a typical day on a Leonard Cohen tour. The interview also answers two of my questions that didn't ma...

Re: Now: Interview with Hattie Webb

Hi Jarkko, Thanks for the link! However, I wasn't able to pull it up from the link above, so here's what comes after tiny-triumphs/ live-from-the-roadhousehattie-webb-interview-show-19 Great to see that Hattie now officially has 92 per cent of her target. Let's hope enough people pre-order the album...

After Hattie reached 92 per cent of her target, it mysteriously went back to 90 per cent. :?: Keep pledging, people!

Re: These people claim that LC will be playing next year in the UK

I trust that Leonard's management will ensure that Double 8 Tickets remove the erroneous information. I personally don't have much hope of seeing Leonard in concert again, but kindly leave, leave the future, leave it open!

Re: Now: Interview with Hattie Webb

Hi Vicomte, Pledge Music seems to be a means by which many indie artists involve their followers in the process of the album being made, and includes giving them tasters, updates etc. It has to be a good thing, if it means the artist gets the majority of money for their work, rather than vast corpor...
