Re: Along the way ... Discovering Leonard's Albums. continued...

B4- Thank you so much, first of all for responding and being positive, and second of all for the wealth of info regarding bios! Yes, the reason I am asking for bios is because I know Sylvie had to have left a ton of stuff out. I feel hers was written for those of you who have loved and followed him ...

Re: Along the way ... Discovering Leonard's Albums. continued...

Thank you 4! I have ordered a copy of the book from Amazon. I found a collectable hardcover edition, slightly used. :) They said it is a first printing, first US edition. Not that it matters much, but kind of cool for a used price. Now that you mention it, some of his songs are kind of like, "Hmmm? ...

Re: Along the way ... Discovering Leonard's Albums. continued...

I am so glad you responded! I told my husband that if nobody replied, I was just going to keep posting anyway! Please don't feel badly. There are no ill feelings here, and I will continue to share my experiences with each album as I go, just hoping others will share their feelings about each album t...

Re: Along the way ... Discovering Leonard's Albums. continued...

I have nothing more to add to this discussion, because the way I do/did things is my own, and no-one else's, and the way others do things is theirs, not mine, thus I shall take my leave, because this is not my path. Have a nice journey. I am so sorry if I said something wrong. I have valued everyon...

Re: Along the way ... Discovering Leonard's Albums. continued...

You may have noticed that his voice was a bit deeper on Various Positions -- Yes, yes! I did notice it. In fact, I commented to my husband on the difference, but it is not an issue at all. Although I love the natural "angst" of his younger voice, his deeper voice on "Various Positions" is a beloved...

Re: Along the way ... Discovering Leonard's Albums. continued...

I know a few people even now who much prefer Leonard's earlier acoustic/folk sound to what came later. Maybe I will be one of those people. Time will tell. I am very curious about a few upcoming albums like "I'm Your Man" and "The Future" and "You Want It Darker". I would love to hear what everyone...

Hmm, we've not heard from Vickie for a few days. Hope she's okay and just happily lost in Various Positions. I suppose, Vickie, this little break in the action might be a good time to relocate this discussion to the Music section (so as not to continue to clutter this one): That sounds good Lisa! L...

Re: Hello, I'm new to this forum... (introducing yourselves)

here's a new link to LC's ZDF 1979 Munich TV show with Raffi's violin. This is one of my favourites :D Vickie, I think you'll love this too! Thank you so much for this link! I've only had time for the first 2 songs before I need to get ready for work, but loved it and appreciate your sending it alo...

Re: Hello, I'm new to this forum... (introducing yourselves)

...I made a discovery yesterday that is embarrassing for one claiming to be a died-in-the wool fan. ... yesterday I sat down to play Recent Songs, and--get this--I do not have it--which means I never heard it! Now it all makes sense that some of the songs are unfamiliar... Okay, that is too hilario...

Re: Hello, I'm new to this forum... (introducing yourselves)

I am not sure if you know this, but Leonard did not write "The Lost Canadian": it is an old Canadian folk song. I think I remember reading that somewhere and was expecting to like it more than I did. Likely, the fact that it is all in French throws me off. My family was constantly moving between my...

Re: Hello, I'm new to this forum... (introducing yourselves)

I live in Edmonton, sadly very far from Montreal (you are closer to it than I!) -- I'd visit often, if it weren't such a long way (and a considerable expense). It is, indeed, a beautiful city: I was there just once, several years ago, and I'd love to go back. I love "Ballad of the Absent Mare" -- i...

Re: Hello, I'm new to this forum... (introducing yourselves)

I can hardly wait until you get to the 80's! I am about to go on to the 80s, but it will be a couple more days. I am still stuck on the the poetry of "Recent Songs" and in awe of his talent. Plus we have been crazy here on the farm. Not only the usual spring chores, but someone shot a dog on the ri...

Re: Hello, I'm new to this forum... (introducing yourselves)

I haven't heard from a moderator whether I should continue to post our conversation on the "Hello, I'm new to this forum..." but hopefully it is okay. I appreciate your feedback Lisa and Curt and anyone else who wants to chime in! I have been listening to "Recent Songs" for almost 2 weeks, but I am ...

Re: Hello, I'm new to this forum... (introducing yourselves)

However, you watched "Isle of Wight" -- Good morning Lisa! You have made a good point. This just goes to show that I am not as disciplined as I am trying to be! I couldn't resist seeing him in action. I wanted to watch his body language when he was interacting with his songs and after reading Simmo...

Re: Hello, I'm new to this forum... (introducing yourselves)

Please don't forget the live albums -- they contain some real gems, and are sufficiently different from the studio albums that they really are whole "new" experiences, even if you've heard the songs before..... Hi Lisa! I have given this serious thought even before I started my journey. I have been...
