Re: HAPPY 82nd BIRTHDAY LEONARD!!

Hallelujah! Another birthday. This snippet from a review just to hand ... "For the past 25 years I've had this notion that on every successive Leonard Cohen record his voice would get deeper and deeper until one day he'd put out an album so subsonic that you'd just feel it, not hear it. Well, we're ...

Re: The Re-Tooling of Speaking Cohen

Hi Marie. Such sad news about your site. I notice the link you posted to the 'extortion letter' article is from 2011. This looks like the scam is still going on and there is a relatively recent piece on it here from someone else in the same situation. Hope it helps. http://www.hackerfactor.com/blog/...

Re: Popular Problems - First Impressions

I love the change in backing on this album. It sets it apart and if we are lucky we may get to see the old lineup on Tour for their version. I would go further than alb123, I wonder why he has chosen this set of musicians instead of the touring band. Maybe there are contractual difficulties but the ...

Re: Official lyrics of Popular Problems

Lots of wrong lyrics posted online so nice to see the official ones posted here. Born in Chains is a classic case in point, with many errors showing up. On the Lemon trees blossom, almond trees wither... this is a lovely lovely line to show the passage of time. Lemons setting their buds in early win...

Re: Popular Problems: Memorable Lines

Sun makes perfect sense if the original concept is to do with unrelenting rain. "Was our prayer so damn unworthy The sun rejected it?" The official lyrics are: "Was our prayer so damn unworthy The Son rejected it?" http://www.leonardcohenfiles.com/popularproblems.html#113 I think this meaning of Son...

Re: Popular Problems: Memorable Lines

A very cheeky switch on the usual "moment on your lips and lifetime on your thighs" warning to women about eating sweets!

Cheshire gal wrote:Slow: A great song.

'A weekend on your lips, a lifetime in your eyes' :D :D :D

I love this Album.

Delicious ambiguity.

That's part of what we love about Leonard.

Always a mystery.

haha This is great - Nevemind has 'doof doof' beat - all the young'uns will be picking up this album.

How fantastic! If this was a quick production let there be many more.

Re: Leonard 80 years: Fund Raising for our Hydra Bench

Just sent some euros by PayPal.

Is there a URL ( not the forum I guess) with the lowdown and instruction for donation payment we can post to Twitter for a final push for more donations in the days remaining?

Happy to post it to my networks over the week.

Re: How to celebrate Leonard's 80th birthday

You might find this of interest. A friend sadly lost her daughter recently and decided to dedicate a bench in her memory and used crowd funding for the money to do it. They received much more than their goal and were able to donate the rest to the children's hospital. Here's a link with the story. C...

Re: Zen and longing

In That Don't Make It Junk - Leonard "closed the book of longing".

That's a powerful and useful action.

I'll take a leaf from that book.

How interesting - they are selling standing room only tickets for $196. I would have been tempted to buy another ticket for this show.

Re: CONCERT REPORT:ADOTG, Hunter Valley, Australia, Nov 23,

An update following 23 November concert I had a tweet from the local radio announcer who recently interviewed Charley Webb) asking me to "Explain Leonard Cohen" since many don't get what all the fuss is about. The host of the show just having been to the Bimbadgen concert was starting to understand....
