Re: Along the way ... Discovering Leonard's Albums. continued...

I am feeling badly. Sort of like a few weeks after the honeymoon when something minor (I've told you to put the toilet seat down and you ignore this tiny request) leads to a misunderstanding and unmeant harsh words. I am not sure where things went awry on this thread, I hope there are no ill feeling...

Re: Along the way ... Discovering Leonard's Albums. continued...

Happy Friday, Did not get Recent Songs yet, so cannot comment on that. In fact, given my failure to realize I had never heard this album in its entirety, I question whether or not I should be commenting on any albums between the first three and the last three (those I have listened to with rapt atte...

Re: Hello, I'm new to this forum... (introducing yourselves)

Yes, this thread has taken a turn away from "Hello, I'm new to this forum," so perhaps Jarkko should move it elsewhere. Whether it is moved or not, I would encourage others to join in, we are all fans and should welcome hearing about others' experiences, likes, and dislikes as a new fan discovers LC...

Re: Hello, I'm new to this forum... (introducing yourselves)

Vickie, I made a discovery yesterday that is embarrassing for one claiming to be a died-in-the wool fan. If you recall, I mentioned I was going to spend time with Recent Songs as a number of the tracks, such as "Ballad," seemed very fuzzy to me. Having invested in a good stereo with a 300-CD player,...

Re: Hello, I'm new to this forum... (introducing yourselves)

B4Real, "Thanks for the trouble you took" to find the link for us! I had forgotten that one of the listeners in the video was LC's best friend Irving Layton. Not sure who the woman is, she looks too young to be Irving's wife, but you know how those poets are. It is always enjoyable to interact with ...

Re: Hello, I'm new to this forum... (introducing yourselves)

Hello Vickie (and Lisa), I too have thought, maybe our ongoing dialogue is misplaced in this section of the forum, but of course anyone can feel free to chime in, so what harm is done? Sad news about the dog, and really admirable that you and your husband took the time to find it and minimize its su...

Re: Hello, I'm new to this forum... (introducing yourselves)

Vickie, the reward for using your disciplined approach (not listening to songs before you get to that album) is that you get to experience something akin to 'waking up on Christmas morning as a child and opening your gifts' many times over. I know I could NEVER be that disciplined. Late March snow m...

Re: Hello, I'm new to this forum... (introducing yourselves)

Vickie, best wishes for a speedy "recovery." The next three albums might be characterized as LC's 1980's work. None of the albums are really thematic, each is a rather eclectic mix leaning towards ballads, but occasionally reflecting the changes that were occurring in the music world. Generally spea...

Re: Hello, I'm new to this forum... (introducing yourselves)

Hello Vickie, Understand the cold feet regarding moving to "Death of a Ladies' Man." You mentioned enjoying LC's smile. In concert during the final years (these are the only ones we attended), we always relished the magic of his smile, sometimes upon completing a song, but quite often in response to...

Re: Website about charges pending against Kelley Lynch

Geoffrey,

You have a way with words, but I am certain I am not the first to tell you this.

The way you characterized the good that evolved from treachery--I like to believe that Leonard came to realize this as well.

Thank you for sharing your short story.

Re: Hello, I'm new to this forum... (introducing yourselves)

Vickie, it took me some time before I fully appreciated "New Skin," you are evidently a more perfect fan! A few random comments: Lover, Lover, Lover--It is interesting how, once you've heard this song several times, your brain learns that "lover" MUST be repeated seven times. not six, not eight, but...

Re: Hello, I'm new to this forum... (introducing yourselves)

We listened to rather than viewed "Isle of Wight" the other day (the product I bought had a CD as well a a DVD), and it had me hoping I wasn't wrong about how you two would receive it. (I very much relish being right, but it doesn't happen as frequently as I would wish.) While you were viewing "Isle...

I am predicting that you (and maybe even your husband) will be fascinated by "Isle of Wight." I don't think I am going out on a limb here.

Re: Hello, I'm new to this forum... (introducing yourselves)

Lisa, you are correct, I now remember seeing that "Joan of Arc" was played at Portland and hoping it would be included at Kingston the following month. Somewhere on the great forum someone posted a complete listing of all the songs played in the 2008-2013 concerts, how many times performed, etc., bu...
