Re: Leonard Has Passed Away

Dear all,
In several messages I read that there will be a public commemoration in LA. Does anyone know more about this? When or where will this happen? Who's in charge of it? Etc.
Thanks,
Francis

PICTURE - L. COHEN AND HIS SHADOW

Dear all In the previous years, I added some interviews with band members (Roscoe Beck, Javier Mas, Alexandru Bublitchi) on the LC-files. These conversations were ‘spin-offs’ from my Leonard Cohen-book project, that will be published in February 2015 (in Dutch!). A question: I am looking for a pictu...

Nathan Cohen

Dear all,

Does anybody know the exact date of the death of Leonard Cohen's father, Nathan Cohen?
In the biographies, I only found that it was "January 1944" and that the day of his funeral was also the birthday of Cohen's sister, Esther.

Thanks!

The city of Leonard Cohen

Hi all, I found this website - a very nice and well made overview of "typical" Leonard Cohen-places in Montreal. http://prezi.com/itkovircuqlg/leonard-cohens-montreal/ If anyone wants to add LC-spots... go ahead! From April 1st I'll be in Montreal and during my free time I plan to make som...

Freedom

Hi all

You probably all know the novel "Freedom" by Jonathan Franzen. Just to let you know this is the cover image of the Dutch translation. Reminds you of something?

Re: CONCERT REPORTS: Ghent, Aug 12, 14, 15, 17 & 18

Dear all,

During the performance of "I can't forget" Leonard spoke some words (parlando) in French.
I guess it was something like "jamais je ne t'oublierai" Did anyone hear the exact words?

Thanks! Francis

New Positions

Did those of you who bought the CD "Leonard Cohen, Back in the Motherland" knew that a "new" album is mentioned in the booklet?
You can read that Cohen issued in 1984 an album called New Positions ... :)

Re: why you shouldn't read or listen to L. Cohen

I add some other classical statements:

- He can't sing
- He's always saying the same thing
- His work is too hermetic (you don't know what he's singing about)
- His work makes one depressive

why you shouldn't read or listen to L. Cohen

Hi all! Let's put the cat among the pigeons! I don't know if this question has already been raised here, but - as most of the people on the forum love lists - let us make a list of reasons why you shoudn't read or listen to L. Cohen - what comes to mind? what are the reasons that critics have mentio...

Re: switch from literature to music

Thanks for your ideas! It might be the line 'took my diamond to the pawnshop'... that I was looking for.
Besides: I don't know if he ever really "shifted" from literature to music. Cohen once compared his writership with the priesthood: once a priest, always a priest...

So long!

switch from literature to music

Hi all, I read somewhere (but I forgot where) that some lines of Cohen's (musical) work could be interpreted as an indirect 'regret' or even a 'confession of guilt' of the turn from writer/poet to musician. I know this statemen allows several interpretations but I was wondering if som of you know wh...
