Re: Hello, I'm new to this forum... (introducing yourselves)

Hi 4, my pleasure to do so! In Rasky’s book there are two photos from scenes of that video with the woman in it and the caption at the bottom reads l to r: Irving Layton, Sandra, Leonard Cohen, (Hazel Field in the background in one of them). Rasky comments in the text about Sandra, “the silent blond...

Re: Clinton street

Hi John, welcome to the forum! Sorry, I don't know the specific address. From my Harry Rasky's book I can give you Leonard's actual words, "I finished the lyrics for that song (Famous Blue Raincoat) in a loft on Clinton Street....I began the melody for that song in 1968....In the early seventies I w...

Re: Surveys: Leonard's R&B album

Thank you Hartmut, I wasn’t at the Amsterdam 2016 event so now it’s all clear what you meant! I was thinking you were referring to LC at a concert there and not PL at the event :) I don't hold out much hope for the R&R album but it has been a good distraction for me to speculate on which songs could...

Re: Surveys: Leonard's R&B album

Hi Hartmut, Interesting question. - In Amsterdam, he played "No Way to Say Goodbye" (among other songs) on the piano. And I guess there must be a reason why he was so familiar with that song ... Does anybody remember which other songs he played? That might be a clue. I'm not quite sure what you mean...

Re: Hello, I'm new to this forum... (introducing yourselves)

Hi all, Here’s the clip you were referring to of The Window and it is from The Song of LC (Harry Rasky’s tour of 1979 film) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUszJI_6WPA btw....I reckon the Recent Songs album is for sure one of LC’s finest and that song (a personal favourite) is a major contributing f...

Re: Leonard Cohen color themes

The first colour swatch could work and I agree with Marie about the blues and greys being appropriate. All the blue samples fourth in line are fitting. The obvious sample, seventh in line has colours comprised of mainly the Popular Problems album cover and Old Ideas (no blue). As we all know grey to...

Re: Surveys: Leonard's R&B album

Hi Hartmut, Regarding the uncertain R&B album it doesn’t seem clear to me if those songs possibly on it would be old or new ones. Either way, if it went ahead the first four singers you have listed are a good bet. I would add Julie Christensen and Perla Batalla, Jackson Browne and Gregory Alan Isako...

Re: Lissadell House seeks help naming Cohen Garden

Some good answers! What about “The Leaf Of Life Garden” or “Leaves Of Life Garden” relating to a verse from the song Sisters Of Mercy. “If your life is a leaf that the seasons tear off and condemn they will bind you with love that is graceful and green as a stem.” Also taking note of the fact that t...

Re: Random LC moment I am adoring today

Lately I've been watching DVDs that a friend gave me some years ago of the TV show "House MD". I've stated on the forum nearly eight years ago about an unforgettable connection between myself and LC through his song Hallelujah that was played in an episode called "Acceptance" from this TV show. Inte...

Re: A Source for Tacoma Trailer?

Some clarification on that source firstly from "The Source Himself" :) during an Interview in 1992 "The Future Radio Special" from a special CD released by Sony music. LC’s words: "This was designed for a theatre piece by Ted Allen. It was part of long suite and I kept playing the music when I was i...

Re: Leonard Cohen Nominated In 4 Categories - Juno Awards 2017

Thanks Marie, for posting that info. Thanks, Leslie. It's in Ottawa this year and ten minutes from my house! I love Feist so was very excited when I heard she was going to do the tribute. I wonder if Adam will be there to accept the Juno (I'm pretty sure Leonard will win at least one). Hey Mary, See...
