Re: Along the way... Discovering Leonard's poetry and novels

Vickie, Thanks for reminding me of LC's poetry books, some which I haven't read in years and you will see evidence of one of those poems (and it's not a rhyming one, ha!) plus a line from a song very soon in a traditional thread ;-) If you haven’t already read it I was thinking you might be interest...

Re: Next Step: Charity projects

In Montreal we talked with Cantor Gideon Zelermyer of Shaar Hashomayim, Leonard's family synagogue. He had discussed charity projects with Leonard only some months before his death. "Give your contribution to the hungry", Leonard had said. Our Bench Team decided to follow this guidance. Thank you J...

Re: I thought I saw an eagle!

ah Hartmut, I thought of adding that for fun! But I think Gwen, with not sick but sharp eagle eyes :) could be right and it is a dove! In fact, I think the bird is carrying an olive branch! https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/08/P_dove.png Or maybe it's an eagle with the same unlikely m...

I thought I saw an eagle!

I just received this as an LC google alert and ....."I thought I saw an eagle" ;-) and I did! https://www.npr.org/2017/11/20/561828746/nprmusic10-2008 https://media.npr.org/assets/img/2017/11/14/2008-gettyimages-81916344_custom-8804df0bc2add29363152337d0ffa24231bc2e7b-s1300-c85.jpg I can't recall se...

Re: Along the way... Discovering Leonard's albums

I've put in a lot of listening time to Leonard's albums these past couple of weeks, and this reminded me of three interesting songs that have not been discussed much here: "Stories of the Street," "A Bunch of Lonesome Heroes," and "The Captain." Would someone want to pick one and start a discussion...

Re: Along the way... Discovering Leonard's albums

Would someone want to pick one and start a discussion? It would also be interesting to hear what Leonard might have said about these songs (from B4's "archives"), but maybe that should come after our own comments. I will do as you say 4, and wait to post that but in the meantime.... Vickie wrote: I...

Re: I Have No Idea of the Sound I'm Looking For (LC interview 1969)

Glad you enjoyed it Hartmut :D

There are many gems throughout this interview!
For instance, his belief that his work on a personal level is prophetic for him.
On the same train of thought he said he thinks all his dreams have come through.

I Have No Idea of the Sound I'm Looking For (LC interview 1969)

This is a long, most interesting interview where a variety of subjects are discussed and well worth the read if only because of the fact that it is close to the beginning of LC's career in song. The text says "At the moment he is working on a second album of songs". His second album is Songs From A ...

Re: Along the way... Discovering Leonard's albums

Vickie, That’s an interesting connection too! And yes, I have read all that is available at this stage of Leonard’s words in both song and poetry. There are members here who prefer his written word as poetry to those he has sung. Some of those words do sit differently on the page and that's where th...

Re: Along the way... Discovering Leonard's albums

Vickie, (I think Dave is slowly seeing how the light gets in, ha!) Poetry seems to be the flavour of the day :) I recently watched a short video of Leonard’s words illuminated on silo 5 with the MAC centre tribute and thought you might be interested in what they mentioned in certain verses. The exce...

Be For Real on TV show

There is a TV show coming to Australia on SBS 30th November called Chance starring Hugh Laurie and in season 1 episode 7 Unlocking Your Hidden Powers features the song Be For Real ;-) with Leonard singing it. As we know Leonard didn’t write this song, Frederick Knight did. As LC says,"Thanks for the...
