portaits of leonard

as the world's most prolific painter of leonard cohen portraits, i remain completely overwhelmed by another couple of websites devoting space to some of my work. received these links this evening; thank you so much, christof :-) http://blog.leonardcohen.de/?p=6303 http://cohenpedia.de/a-art-of-geoff...

Re: Giant mural in Montreal commemorating Leonard Cohen

leonard being strangled by a scarf (à la isadora duncan) Geoffrey, you really crack me up sometimes. Entertaining thread, by the way (everyone). (Actually, there's that word again: 'crack'.) (Wrong thread though.) ah, the 'mother of modern dance'. so glad you picked up on that, dear well-read viole...

Re: Giant mural in Montreal commemorating Leonard Cohen

some interesting and valid points being brought up in this thread, and i will echo lisa's reaction to the news video depicting multiple people praising the 'grumpy' portrait. three days ago a lady (gisella graham) wrote on social media: "please tell me what you think of this LC mural in montreal". a...

Re: Giant mural in Montreal commemorating Leonard Cohen

hei bev and lisa. this is more typical of leonard, happy face, wry smile, slightly mischievous glint in eyes. not necessarily this picture, but something similar might have been chosen. too damned late now, though - and more's the pity. that's what happens when the job is given to a 'portraitist' (?...

Re: Giant mural in Montreal commemorating Leonard Cohen

Geoffrey: I am glad to know that I'm not the only one who thinks so (or at least, I'm not the only one to voice my sentiments out loud). Bev: You are quite the optimist, how nice! I am not so sure, however, about expecting a significant change of expression in the mural, as every aspect of his face...

Re: Giant mural in Montreal commemorating Leonard Cohen

With regards to Cohen's expression in the mural, am I the only one who thinks that he looks rather grumpy . . . no, i don't think you're the only one. would have been nice to see a portrait with a less grumpy expression, but if this one causes discussion i suppose that is not necessarily a negative...

Re: leo at molde

Few on this site are more reticent than I (sadly), but I couldn't help but comment on the beauty of that portrait! The sepia one is gorgeous, also...as are so many of yours. I was awed the first time I came across one of your renditions and looked up other Geoffrey posts in amazement...but posted n...

Re: rags of light

thank you, dear friends, for your messages. it is not certain that any photos or videos will be taken, at least as far as i am concerned; the idea is to just sit and relax - and enjoy the music :-) news reached me today about a lady, marit kaldhol, who is to give a lecture on leonard this coming sep...

rags of light

i live in a remote place - very isolated. ship once a day, nearest train station a two-hour drive through mountains, but we do have a little airstrip out on one of the islands. needless to say, nothing much happens here, but next sunday i will be taking my car on a ferry across the fjord to attend a...

my sunday dinner

shall we, for the sake of argument, say that this post falls under the category of 'art'? well, maybe not, and neither is it leonard cohen related. so, be merciful and cut me some slack this time, ok? later today i may make up for it by posting a fresh topic up in the news section. right, back to th...
