Re: What instrument is used in the intro to “Closing Time”?

Wellshell, Hi. Regarding the original studio version on The Future, I suspect you already looked on the album credits and noticed the Bob Furgo plays violin, and that looks to be Bob in the official video, filmed in black and white in the crazy nightclub scene. Obviously violin is playing the promin...

Rehearsals for 2008 Tour - video??

Has anyone ever heard if there is video footage of the months of rehearsals that took place in preparation for launching the 2008 Tour? Or, for the rehearsals when Alexandru and Mitch joined the band?

For those that like backstage footage, these rehearsals would be quite a find.

Re: Leonard Cohen Nominated In 4 Categories - Juno Awards 2017

Saying Leonard is "Songwriter of the Year" is like saying Mt. Everest is the "Highest Mountain of the Year". No. It's always the highest mountain every year!

Re: The Darker Album: Complete Lyrics

Holydove - that is great insight. Obviously I wasn't implying that Leonard didn't know better, and considering the topic of the two sentences, your theory is certainly plausible. That's one interpretation I would have never saw coming, I mean - seen. :)

Re: The Darker Album: Complete Lyrics

This has likely been discussed elsewhere, but I just noticed the written lyric for Treaty in the CD booklet: I seen you change the water into wine I seen you change it back to water too Wow, that is poor grammar. I guess I'd been hearing it as: I've seen you change the water into wine I see you chan...

Re: What would Leonard say?

The joke will be on Science, like some-kinda' Zen koan, when scientists look through their electron microscopes only to see a microscopic Leonard Cohen singing the absolute truth as he knows it, "there ain't no cure for love". ;-)

Gullivor, Never ever say or think you are "unqualified to comment with no formal education in writing". Here's why: It is very common for me to write a poem and know it is finished and still not know what it means. When I read your notes, that the poem "speaks of . . . real happiness!...

Re: New live album: Can't Forget

Being a person who loves documentaries about bands in the studio or backstage-behind-the-scenes tour footage, I love the idea of an album of soundchecks. But, in my opinion, it would be far better as a BluRay; to me, watching it is as important as hearing it - things like false starts, stopping the ...

Re: My works posted to YouTube

Very nice. Thanks! (I like the substitution chord, if that's what it is, towards the end - which is not present in other arrangements of the song I've heard.) Harmut, so you are familiar with the song (seeing that you picked out a chord change!). Where do you live that you know the song? Sure, it's...
