Re: Troubles between the family and the management

If it is true, it’s particularly sad because I remember LC’s trepidation and Kory’s enthusiasm about representing him.

I’m glad Adam and Lorca are at least keeping their eye on things.

Re: "Thanks for the dance" - the new album

I have been sitting with this album so I could consume it and process it before sharing any thoughts. Whenever it comes to posthumous/reissue material, there is one principal I tend to judge by: does this need to be heard? My answer is an unequivocal YES. This album is made up almost entirely of son...

Will there be a block of rooms for the event?

Re: Neema: "Leonard Cohen is probably the funniest person I’ve ever met"

What is very notable is that feeling she describes, "just knowing he was there." Obviously, it's not the same, but it is a hard feeling to shake when hearing his music now. I would sign into the forum periodically to see what was going on, and usually would see something from Jarkko on beh...

Instrumentation on unreleased tracks

I recently read a quote where Leonard said many of his friends were disappointed with the amount of instrumentation that was used on his debut, so he wanted to make a very stark record with Songs From a Room. I've been listening to some of the older albums lately, and noticed the stark contrast betw...

Re: Top 20 Leonard Cohen Songs Voted By Fans

Hmmm.

Not sure I'd agree on some of those, especially for top 20.

I will say that Nancy is one of my top 20. SUCH a beautiful and heartbreaking song. I really like the one from Live Songs.

These lists are always subjective, but Waiting For The Miracle is sorely absent.

Back catalog reissues

I know that Columbia was in the process of reissuing Leonard's older albums with bonus material and re-mastering, but this seemed to be put on hold to capitalize on his newer material. Jarkko, or anyone else in the know, do you know if they plan to move forward on this again? If so, any chance we'd ...

Re: Leonard Has Passed Away

Leonard Cohen remembered by Rufus Wainwright: https://www.theguardian.com/music/2016/dec/11/leonard-cohen-remembered-by-rufus-wainwright-grandfather-obituary This is a great article. Leonard's humor always came through his music, but he always appeared so dignified. I had to really laugh at the gay...

Working on a tribute CD

Since Leonard had such a profound impact on me, musically... his passing left a bit of an emptiness. And it came to me one night, while I couldn't sleep: I need catharsis. As such, I have rallied some friends to help put some of my favorite Cohen songs on record. My aim with this is not really to re...

Re: Leonard Has Passed Away

This really comes as a surprise, as the listening party he did in LA seemed to quell the notion that he was in poor health. I am truly, truly saddened. I remember the moment I first heard him. I was in a film class, Oliver Stone was the topic. Natural Born Killers was reviewed, and I remember the mo...

Re: Tour 2016 (just a rumor)

The thought of Leonard not touring again due to age is a hard one to grapple with. I became a fan during his years at Mount Baldy, and really have been blessed to see him three times. I do not like to think of him in terms of his mortality. To lose the level of joy and exhiliration from his work, bo...

Re: Live in Dublin Sound

I recently purchased this, even after reading all the bad sound reviews. I listened to it first on headphones, then again in my car. I've got to say, I am thrilled I made the leap and bought it. I think the sound is great, particularly on the headphones. The only thing I thought was curious was that...

This is pretty amazing. A Perfect companion to Live in Dublin.

Jarkko, any idea why "I've Got a Little Secret" was cut from LID, and held for this one?
